IT'S HERE!

Sammy the Sea Serpent

From the Beginning

This is the final version of the front cover.  The large sea serpent on the left is the father of the twins Agnes and Horace.  Agnes is Sammy's mother and Horace is Sammy's uncle.  The sea serpent on the right is the twin's mother.
This illustration will also appear in the book (without the text) and will appear on the book that Becky's father is reading from.
Watch for more sneak peeks at illustrations as they become available.  My illustrator Gary Finelli is a full time high school art teacher in New York and he is doing these illustrations in his spare time.  As you can see, the result is worth waiting for.
As promised in my last blog, here is an excerpt from the book:

“Do you have a bedtime story for me, daddy?” Becky asked her father.
“Actually,” he answered, “I have a brand new story for you.”
“Oh! Goody, goody,” she exclaimed aloud and clapping her hands.  “What is the story about, daddy?”
“It’s all about a family of sea serpents,” he explained.
“Sea serpents?” she asked a slight tremor in her voice.  “Aren’t they big and scary?”
“Well,” he father continued, “they are big.  That’s for sure.  But these sea creatures only eat fish and seaweed so you have nothing to be afraid of.”
“Oh!’ she sighed, relieved.  “I thought you were going to tell me a scary story because Halloween is coming soon!”
“No dear!” he laughed.  “I want you to get some sleep, not stay up all night looking for monsters.”
“Thank you daddy,” she laughed.
“Anyway, the story starts a long, long time ago before people lived here,” he continued.
“Do you mean when there were dinosaurs and dragons living here?” Becky asked.
“That’s right,” he answered.  “Now lay down while I tell you a story about Sammy the Sea Serpent.
